If you are unable to eat safely, for example if you have difficulty swallowing, or you are able to eat, but can’t eat enough to meet your nutritional needs, then your healthcare professional (e.g. consultant or dietitian) may recommend a tube feed for you to help you get the nutrients you need. They will have considered your medical needs and will tell you how much and how often you need to take your feed.
