- Fibre: An essential nutrient for children in health and disease – applying recommendations of an expert consensus
- Abstract
-
Fibre is an essential nutrient for human health that has short and long-term benefits.1 Despite this, most children, including those with disease-related malnutrition receiving nutrition support, fall short of daily recommended intakes. Evidence to support restriction of fibre in specific disease states is lacking, however, healthcare professionals (HCPs) often advise low fibre diets.
