Abbott Contract Managers and their teams across the country are putting together big plans to make an impact within their local communities. Throughout 2025, we’ll be catching up with different teams to find out how their corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives are making a difference.
Abbott recognises that we work in many areas across the UK and we’re conscious of the impact that we as an organisation have on the regions and communities in which we operate. As part of an exciting new initiative for 2025, Abbott Contract Managers around the country are organising individual corporate social responsibility (CSR) days. Each regional Abbott team will undertake a carefully selected activity or project in order to give back to their respective communities.
Abbott has always been committed to CSR, with activities often taking place in areas surrounding our main offices and sites, such as Maidenhead and Sittingbourne. In 2025 we’re aiming to take CSR to the next level. Spearheaded by our Contract Managers, the breadth and reach of Abbott’s CSR initiatives will expand nationwide, with teams organising and participating in activities to make a tangible positive impact in support of the people, organisations and causes in their local area. It is also a fantastic opportunity for bringing regional teams together and strengthening bonds while collectively giving back to the community.
CSR projects can cover a wide range of ventures – each making a meaningful difference for the local area and the people within it – which might include:
Environmental Sustainability
such as tree planting or habitat building for wildlife conservation
Community Clean-Up
litter picking and recycling initiatives in local parks, beaches or neighbourhoods
Community Support
helping out a local organisation such as a community centre or food bank
The list goes on, and we’re excited to see what the regional teams plan to do on their CSR days in 2025. Christopher Hand, Contract Manager in South Wales, has already begun organising a beach clean with the team in Swansea.
“The team and I are looking forward to getting together in March and getting our hands dirty for the beach clean. It’s part of our contribution to Abbott’s CSR commitment and a great opportunity for us to give something back and do our part for the local community in Swansea, who have been doing a lot of sustainability work in reducing plastic use.”

In previous years, successful initiatives have included tree-planting in Windsor, redecorating a commercial foodshare site in Maidenhead, and a beach clean-up in Sittingbourne - in which the team managed to fill over 60 refuse sacks of rubbish.
Over the course of the year, we’ll be catching up with different Abbott teams to see what they’ve been getting up to and look forward to demonstrating to you the impact that they, and Abbott as a whole, are making. It may even inspire you to consider ways in which your own teams can address CSR within your local community.

As part of Abbott’s ongoing commitment to driving sustainable practice, the Contract Management team have been working closely with NHS Trusts to support them in implementing new initiatives to reduce waste and minimise the use of single-use plastics.
We take a look inside Abbott’s Sittingbourne facility which has recently undergone a creative, internal transformation to enhance employee engagement - by bringing the Abbott brand experience into the workplace.
