Ross Carbohydrate Free

Ross Carbohydrate Free is a soy-based formula with iron and no added carbohydrate for the dietary management of infants from birth and children who are unable to tolerate the type or amount of carbohydrate in milk or infant formulas. This product contains no added carbohydrate. It is presented in a 384 mL can of concentrated liquid.1

Note: Water must be added before feeding. Feeding this product without adding water may result in illness.1

Uses

Ross Carbohydrate Free is used in the dietary management of infants from birth and children who are unable to tolerate the type or amount of carbohydrate in milk or conventional infant formulas. It can also be used in infants and children requiring a ketogenic diet, under medical supervision, where added carbohydrate may not be recommended.1

Ingredients

Water (88%), soy protein isolate (5%), high oleic safflower oil (3%), soy oil (2%), coconut oil (2%); LESS THAN 1% OF: calcium phosphate, potassium citrate, potassium chloride, magnesium chloride, monoglycerides, soy lecithin, carrageenan, salt, l-methionine, ascorbic acid, potassium hydroxide, choline chloride, taurine, m-inositol, ferrous sulphate, zinc sulphate, L-carnitine, niacinamide, d-alpha-tocopheryl acetate, calcium pantothenate, cupric sulphate, thiamin chloride hydrochloride, Vitamin A palmitate, riboflavin, pyridoxine hydrochloride, folic acid, potassium iodide, phylloquinone, biotin, beta-carotene, sodium selenate, vitamin D3 and cyanocobalamin.

Contains soy ingredients.

Preparation

For 20 Cal/fl oz formula: Dissolve the type and amount of prescribed carbohydrate in 12 fl oz of water, cover and bring to the boil. Keep covered; allow to cool. Rinse Ross Carbohydrate Free can lid and shake can very well. Open with a clean punch-type can opener. Add RCF to cooled carbohydrate solution. Mix and pour into bottles (or cup). Once feeding begins, use within one hour or discard.

For 54 g of carbohydrate add one of the following:

  • Table sugar (sucrose): 4 level tablespoons
  • Fructose powder: 4 level tablespoons
  • Dextrose powder: 6 level tablespoons
